Autumn 2025
New season, new beginnings…
Wigton Choral Society is looking to recruit new members in all voice sections for its exciting future programme of classical and contemporary works. No audition is needed.
The choir meets every Thursday in school term-time, from 7.30 to 9.30pm (including a break for refreshments and chat) at Wigton Methodist Church, High St, Wigton, CA7 9PG. The first rehearsal of the Autumn term is on September 4th. Membership subscriptions are not due until after the Society AGM on September 25th, so please come along to meet us before then without commitment or charge.
For the 2025-26 season, we have a Winter concert on Saturday 13th December at St Mary’s Church, Wigton. This will celebrate 1700 years of the Nicene Creed, along with Christmas carol favourites. Our Summer concert ‘The Cumbrian Minstrel’ is on Saturday 16th May 2026. This will feature a completely new work, a setting of Wigton poet John Stagg’s ‘The Vampyre’ to music by our Music Director Ian Wright, and works by Stagg’s Georgian contemporaries.
We are also holding a ‘Come and Sing’ afternoon on Saturday 11th October with ‘A Season to Sing’, Joanna Forbes L’Estrange’s re-working for singers of Vivaldi’s well-known tunes from ‘The Four Seasons’ that we performed earlier this year. Everyone - choir member or not - is welcome to this family-friendly event.
Wigton Choral Society guarantees a warm welcome and the opportunity to sing great music in a friendly and supportive group. We hope to see some new faces this autumn. If you would like more information, please email [email protected] or contact us using the contact form.
